RMA of Lynchburg reports successful social networking workshop

Jennifer Bailer, presenter

Laurie Gulluscio, Director of Marketing and Membership RMA Lynchburg

The Retail Merchants Association of Lynchburg held a social networking workshop last week, which was attended by over 30 people. Here is a press release from the association:

Is taking an hour and ½ out of your personal lunch time something you would do in order to learn more about Face book? Well over 30 people did last Tuesday at the James River Conference Center in down town Lynchburg, were Jennifer Bailey, noted networking specialist spoke not only about Face book but about the importance of understanding social networking sources such as Twitter, Linkedin and understanding the importance of blogging and the use of Google.

Sponsored by the Retail Merchant Association of Lynchburg as one of their annual business supporting workshops, members and potential members alike enjoyed a light lunch and learned about a variety of ways in which this social networking phenomena has changed the way we meet people, network, promote themselves and their businesses.

Some topics discussed were “what is social media”, How to become a Trust Agent, finding and promoting your niche’ and Creating a Marketing Plan of Action when it comes to using these sites. Jennifer discussed the importance of how to use these form of communication correctly and professionally in order to increase visibility and sales. Many in the group were casually users of these programs if they were using them at all others were dependant on them as a main source of their daily news and activities in the community.  Over all I believed everyone learned something informative and new no matter what your social networking skills level.  So the many who were not familiar with Twitter might now be more encouraged now to send a “tweet” a friend. And for those  Face book users we have now just found 30 new additional “friends”.

Jennifer Bailey can be found on any of these social networking sites mention above by simply putting in her name.

Jennifer is available for additional consultation, workshops and web development. The Retail Merchants Association of Lynchburg can also be found on several of the programs listed above so please look them up and give them a “tweet” or become a “fan” on their business page. If you would like more information about RMA and these helpful workshops visit their newly enhanced website, wondering where to find them? Why were else? Google!
