New Roanoke wig store annouces grand opening

A Special Place, a wig shop originally started for women losing hair due to chemotherapy, is officially opening on Williamson Road in Roanoke. Here is a press release from the store:

A Special Place, Roanoke’s new wig boutique, will host a grand opening on Tuesday, June 15 from 10 A.M. – 5 P.M.  This marks the third location for A Special Place, headquartered in Greensboro, NC, with a second boutique in Danville, VA.  Located at Lamplighter Mall on Williamson Rd., A Special Place shares a space with Second to Nature Mastectomy Boutique.

Owner and master wig fitter, Jamela Hodgson, will be present on Tuesday – offering free wig consultations. “We specialize in custom fit wigs, designed to look and feel just like your own hair,” Hodgson explained, “we can size them for a perfect fit, and cut and style them to match your own hair.”

A Special Place originally catered exclusively to women losing their hair due to chemotherapy, but soon expanded into other markets. “There is such a great need,” Hodgson continues, “it’s not just chemotherapy patients anymore. There are women losing their hair due to alopecia or medication side effects, those who just have thinning hair that comes with age, and those who enjoy wearing wigs for fashion or convenience. We have something for everyone.”

As an exclusive StarPro dealer for the Raquel Welch Signature Collection of Wigs, A Special Place offers the best selection of Raquel Welch wigs in North Carolina and Virginia. “We will be unveiling a new collection of V.I.P. wigs from Raquel on Tuesday,” Hodgson announces. “There are 7 new styles that are not available anywhere else in the state or online. You can only see them here!”

A Special Place offers a wide selection of hairpieces and wigs to match any style, color, or price range. For those with chemotherapy or other medical hair loss, insurance often helps pay much of the cost of a wig.  Some insurance plans cover 3 or more wigs per year.

In addition, A Special Place features hats, scarves and turbans designed especially for women with hair loss, specialty skin care products designed for cancer patients and compression garments for lymphedema  patients.  Working in close connection with Second to Nature Mastectomy Boutique, which offers bras, camisoles, prostheses, swimwear and other after breast surgery fashions, women can find all of their special needs in one location!

For more information, contact Jamela Hodgson, 336-574-0100 or Rebecca Whitehill 540-366-2711.
