RMA of Lynchburg hosts successful media tradeshow

The Retail Merchants Association of Lynchburg held a media tradeshow to introduce business owners to media partners Tuesday. Here is a press release from the RMA:

It may have been 94 degrees outside but on Tuesday inside the James River Conference Center in downtown Lynchburg, business owners and representatives thoughts were on the chilly season of the holidays and the New Year. At the first ever Retail Merchants Association’s  (RMA) Media Tradeshow, business owners were introduced to the expansive number of media partners offered here in the Region 2000 area.  With the assistance of their Local RMA, businesses were given some tools to make marketing their business more affordable. This annual event will give business owners the tools needed to partner with other businesses to promote their products and services in the most economical manor… in this case co-op advertising. Businesses were also introduced to Region 2000’s Small Business Development Centre and SCORE, a group of volunteers comprised of working or retired business owners.  Both organizations were on hand to assist in marketing budgets for the New Year. A film created to recruit young professionals to the Roanoke and New River Valleys was shown for the first time at the NewVa Corridor Technology Council fall gala last night.

Neathawk Dubuque & Packett is now working with a health care system in Chattanooga to run a new lung care campaign. Here is a press release from the advertising agency:

SiteVision chosen by International Mission Board to redeploy website

SiteVision is redesigning the International Mission Board’s website. Here is a press release from SiteVision:

The advertising firm Neathawk Dubuque & Packett, which has an office in Roanoke, has announced two new clients in Florida. Here is a press release from the agency:

A new tourism initiative focused on the railroad and early settlers has been launched in Radford. Here is a press release from the City of Radford:

Rivers and rails take center stage in the heritage and commercial development of Southwest Virginia and the City of Radford. Today the New River and Norfolk Southern Railroad continue that influence.

On Tuesday, August 17, 2010, the Radford City Tourism Advisory Commission and the Radford Heritage Foundation announced a tourism initiative that will bring together the stories of early settlers, the river and our rail heritage. The presentation took place at noon on the grounds of Glencoe Museum, located at 600 Unruh Drive just off West Main Street (Rt. 11).

Congressman Rick Boucher and officials from Norfolk Southern Corporation, the City of Radford and the Radford Heritage Foundation gave details of a new cultural heritage site that pays homage to Mary Draper Ingles, frontier heroine, as well as to the role of the railroad and the river in this region’s economic development and quality of life.

Roanoke Times launches “Daily Deal” website

The Roanoke Times has created a new group buying website, the Daily Deal, which offers savings at local restaurants and retailers. Here is a press release from the Times:

The Roanoke Times and roanoke.com today launched roanoke.com Daily Deal, the area’s first online group buying website where consumers can access savings of 50 to 90 percent each day from local businesses including restaurants, salons and other retailers in the Roanoke and New River valleys.

Those interested in the deals can sign up at http://dailydeal.roanoke.com to receive the email every weekday. They are then encouraged to share the deal with their friends by email and through social networking sites. A certain number of people must purchase it for the deal to be activated. Read more »
