Thalhimer awarded management of North Roanoke Plaza

Thalhimer will now manage North Roanoke Plaza on Peters Creek Road. Here is a press release from the real estate company:

Thalhimer, a member of the Cushman & Wakefield Alliance, is pleased to have been selected by North Lakes Center, LLC for the property management of North Roanoke Plaza located at 3100 Peters Creek Road in Roanoke.

North Roanoke Plaza is a 15,450 -square foot retail center and features tenants such as Valley Accounting, Hermitage Automation, Amay’s Supermarket, and Carmelita’s Salon.

The portfolio manager for this property is Jerad Nielsen of Thalhimer’s Roanoke office.

Thalhimer manages over 17,716,000 square feet of commercial real estate properties in Virginia, and over 4,300 multifamily units.

Thalhimer announces recent leases

The commercial real estate company Thalhimer has announced two new leases in the Roanoke area:

Spirit Halloween Superstores has leased 7,500 sq.ft. in Towers Shopping Center at 670 Brandon Ave. in Roanoke, VA.  Nicki Jassy of Thalhimer handled lease negotiations.

Batteries Plus has leased 2,450 sq.ft. at 4014 Electric Road in Roanoke, VA.  Connie Jordan Nielsen and John Nielsen of Thalhimer handled the lease negotiations.

NRVHB holds 2011 Home Expo

The New River Valley Home Builders Association is holding its annual home expo Sept. 30 in Christiansburg. Here is a press release from the association:

The 2011 Home Expo, sponsored by the New River Valley Home Builders Association, the Roanoke Times, and Christiansburg Parks and Recreation, is now accepting booth registrations.  There is a significant discount for early registration by September 30. Market building street utility work to begin next week

Underground utilities are being upgraded in Roanoke to prepare for the City Market Building renovations, resulting in some street closures downtown. Here is a press release from the City of Roanoke:

In preparation to begin renovations on the City Market Building, underground utilities in the area must be upgraded. This work will involve targeted closures to Market and Wall Streets, as well as Salem Avenue.

The sidewalks in front of businesses along the east side of Market Street as well as those along the west side Wall Street will remain open to the public throughout the duration of work required.
Appropriate traffic control and pedestrian signage will be provided so as to minimize disruption. Read more »

Roanoke launches Facebook page on City Market renovations

The City of Roanoke announces:

As part of its communications plan for keeping the public informed about the Roanoke City Market Building renovation project, the city has set up a Facebook page to provide regular updates and photos of the work as it occurs. Citizens are encouraged to visit this page at http://bit.ly/abbw0r to follow the progress of the project.

Affordable Bedford Getaways opens three locations

Former Blockbuster building fully leased

The commercial real estate company Thalhimer has annouced that the former Blockbuster building on Electric Road in Roanoke is now occupied. Here is a press release from Thalhimer:

Thalhimer, a Member of the Cushman & Wakefield Alliance is pleased to announce 4014 Electric Road, a 6,400 square foot former Blockbuster-anchored retail center is now fully leased.

In 2009, Thalhimer was named the exclusive listing representative by Bay Management to represent their portfolio of freestanding Blockbuster buildings in Virginia.  The Electric Road location in the Tanglewood area of Roanoke is now fully leased.  Verizon Wireless leased 3,950 square feet earlier this year and opened in June, and Batteries Plus leased the remaining space of 2,450 square feet, which brought the building to 100% occupancy.   Batteries Plus plans to be open before the end of the year.

John Nielsen & Connie Jordan Nielsen of Thalhimer handled the lease negotiations for the center.

Virginia Tech partners in Energy Innovation Hub

Virginia Tech is participating in a U.S. Department of Energy project to create more energy-efficient building designs. Here is a press release from the university:

Virginia Tech’s Interdisciplinary Center for Applied Mathematics is a partner in the $122 million U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Innovation Hub to develop technologies to make buildings more energy efficient.

The project is led by Pennsylvania State University.
The Energy Innovation Hub will be located at the Philadelphia Navy Yard Clean Energy campus, and will bring together 11 academic institutions – including Virginia Tech, two DOE laboratories, five industry partners, regional economic development agencies, and community colleges to develop building designs that will save energy, cut pollution, and position the United States as a leader in this industry.
